About Illustration Concentration

Illustration Concentration is what we call the illustration track of the BFA in Communication Design at Kutztown University of PA. We will talk about illustration at K.U. and beyond. All illustrators, students, and readers are invited to participate. We try to update weekly, on Thursdays. We have had over 115,000 views in the past three years.

Unless otherwise noted, blog entries are by Prof. Kevin McCloskey, who teaches illustration at Kutztown. Bio, contact info, and office hours can be found here.  We hope these pages will lift the profile of Kutztown’s illustration program.

Ads: You may see advertisements on these pages. We neither endorse nor profit from these ads; they are WordPress’s sponsors. We have been offered payment to insert advertisements from student loan consolidators, but have declined these offers.

Book Reviews:  Occasionally, we review books. Some books are provided by the publishers; others we buy. We try not to let free books influence reviews, but rather to review only those titles we find worthwhile. Publishers of graphic novels and illustration-related books are welcome to send review copies. We promise they will not be resold.

All image copyrights retained by the original artists. KU grads with illustration news, please do get in touch!

  1. Kevin! Thanks for your time this afternoon. i’m going to be showing the classic 1982 animated film The Last Unicorn at The Strand on September 23, 2013 at 5PM and 7:30PM. Author Peter S. Beagle will be there for a signing before the film and a Q&A after. i hope to see you there, and any help you can give me promoting this would be appreciated!
